Bad Boy Butch Releases New “Poor Side Of Town” Music Video

In 1987 Bad Boy Butch Batson created a film version of Johnny Rivers’ “Poor Side of Town” that was never finalized.

During the production of Butch’s forthcoming album release, “Brute Force”, he asked if I would help edit the raw video footage into a completed work.

Here it is.

In 1987 Butch directed all of the scenes and shots. In 2025 he guided me through his vision during editing.
A version of this song was initially included as one of the tracks on his album “Spare Parts.” The song has been totally remixed and remastered for this video.

Bad Boy Butch Batson’s new release “Brute Force” will be available on vinyl and CD this fall.

What’s new in Bad Land?

The Bad One is back! Brute Force, Bad Boy Butch Batson’s first new release since 1998, is in the final stages of mixing.

It started in 2009, when Bad Boy Butch recorded the original backing tracks for Brute Force with Russ Morin, John Martin, Jim McNeely, and John Ross at Sit N’ Spin Studios in Greenville, SC. In 2024, Butch enlisted the help of local legend and veteran producer, Sam Reynolds, to take possession of the original tracks to finish the project. Sam brought in multi-instrumentalist Ed Ray Monsoon to supply additional instrumentation, inspiration and fresh arrangements. Throughout the year, Butch, Ed Ray and Sam have been hard at work in Sam’s studio, The Bonus Room, to finally complete this long anticipated album.
